It’s terrible.

I’d elaborate if I weren’t under an NDA.

MIDAS - Multifunction In-Dorm Automation System
one of my roommate and my projects made the front page of MakeZine :)

Here’s zack and my site about MIDAS, our dorm room automation system -
MIDAS Dorm Automation System

If you like our dorm room, you might want to check out my basement back home :)
TheBasement
It’s not automated by any means, but it’s like 24 hour party mode.. a fully blacklight room with the walls covered in blacklight paint.

Here’s the article:

UPDATE

We made the Digg, Engadget, and Reddit front page :)

Police blotter: Patriot Act e-mail spying approved | CNET News.com

… well that’s just great.. now they have a semi-precedent for monitoring email without warrant.. I mean, that is kind of a sensationalist headline, seeing as they asked the supreme court for permission with one person, but it could easily be cited in future cases as a reason for its use.

   another monitoring program..

US plans massive data sweep | csmonitor.com

so i’ve never heard of this.. but it’s pretty unsettling… i’m hoping that it when it got slashdotted that was just a sensational title about them spidering email… i’m not even sure how they would do it unless they were only to do it to email leaving the country via packet filters on all external facing routers in the country… but its kind of a chilling idea as it is… the article, along with the senators/reps interviewed are very sketchy on details, surprise surprise, old white men don’t understand technology very well… but when we get more information about this it could potentially turn out to be another nightmare… looks like I’ll be using tor from now on…
